Football Recap: West Stokes Wildcats vs. Mount Airy Granite Bears
West Stokes had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They were beaten by the Mount Airy Granite Bears 37-3. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Granite Bears are ranked 71st).
As for Mount Airy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points over those games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Airy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ty Hemric, who threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. The Granite Bears' leading receiver Zach Goins was Hemric's top target yet again, picking up 142 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy will challenge rival Forbush at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Taeshon Martin and Keanu Escalante.
