Softball Recap: Irvine Takes a Loss

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders, falling 17-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vaqueros of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Katie Liu and Jocelyn Knerr stepped up to the plate in a big way. Liu scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Knerr went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most runs Liu has posted since back in March of 2024. Reese Villanueva also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Granada Hills Charter, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Irvine has already played their next game (against Cypress), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Granada Hills Charter, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Kennedy on the 1st.
