Baseball Recap: Prosser's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Prosser hadn't beaten Quincy on the road since March 27, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Mustangs walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Jackrabbits. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Trevor Kreps made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Prosser is 3-1 when Kreps posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Justin Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Prosser's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Aaron Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Prosser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive matches.

The victory got Prosser back to even at 7-7. As for Quincy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Prosser will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jackrabbits: the pair will be back at it again later today.
