Baseball Recap: Moultonborough Academy Find Success

Moultonborough Academy was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past Lisbon 9-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 12, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Emmitt Clifford was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Clifford was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brett Johnson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Moultonborough Academy is 2-1 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Gundersen, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Moultonborough Academy moved to 5-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Lisbon, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Moultonborough Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lisbon has already played their next game (against Lin-Wood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
