Cabell Midland faced Herbert Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Knights skirted past the Huskies 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Cabell Midland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 15-7.

Katie Lawson paced Cabell Midland's offense, picking up seven kills. Lawson got some help from Jillian Yost and her 29 assists.

Despite the defeat, Herbert Hoover had strong showings from Braelyn Adkins, who had 22 digs and three assists, and Olivia Huddleston, who had 15 digs. Adkins has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played. Macie Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Cabell Midland's win bumped their record up to 26-4-1. As for Herbert Hoover, the loss snapped their winning streak at 12 matches and leaves them with a 40-5-1 record.

Coincidentally, Cabell Midland and Herbert Hoover will both be playing Spring Valley the next time they take the court. The Knights will host the Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Huskies will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
