Football Game Preview: Mackay Miners vs. Watersprings + How To Watch

The Mackay Miners will take on Watersprings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mackay is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games last Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 52-14 to Rockland, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Miners were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-8.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Grayden Bruley and Zack Permann. Permann had a great game and gained 473 total yards and seven touchdowns. Meanwhile, Bruley did his best for the losing side, picking up 81 receiving yards, while also rushing for 66 yards on only nine carries.

Watersprings had taken North Gem down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Watersprings was dealt a 68-16 loss at the hands of North Gem. Watersprings hasn't had much luck with North Gem recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Although Watersprings took the loss, they still got scores from Ryan Demkowicz and Wyatt Iraola.

Mackay's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Watersprings, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Mackay took a serious blow against Watersprings when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 72-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Watersprings' Korban Nelson, who threw for 302 yards and five TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards.
