Basketball Recap: Clover Hill Comes Up Short

Clover Hill was the 69-56 winner over Powhatan when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Clover Hill Cavaliers fell 59-48 to the Powhatan Indians on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Indians are ranked 101st).

This is the second loss in a row for Clover Hill and nudges their season record down to 2-9. As for Powhatan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Clover Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against James River Midlothian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. James River Midlothian will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Clover Hill surely won't give up without a fight. As for Powhatan, they will head out to face off against Monacan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Powhatan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
