Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Westside's 11th in Last 14 Outings

Westside lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Stuttgart, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Warriors put the hurt on the Ricebirds with a sharp 7-1 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mckyna Craig made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vada Watkins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Kimber Wynn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Westside is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Stuttgart, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-13.

Looking ahead, Westside will face off against Gosnell at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Stuttgart does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
