Baseball Recap: Laguna Creek Has No Trouble Against Sheldon

Laguna Creek won the last time they faced Sheldon and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cardinals blew past the Huskies 18-0. Considering the Cardinals have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dom Rivera looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julian Pogue-Jasper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Stires, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Laguna Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Laguna Creek's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Sheldon, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Laguna Creek will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
