Preview: Paul VI Panthers vs. Bishop Ireton Cardinals
Paul VI is 9-1 against Bishop Ireton since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Paul VI Panthers' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Bishop Ireton Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Paul VI was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. Mary's Ryken on Tuesday. Paul VI breezed by St. Mary's Ryken at home to the tune of 79-34.
Meanwhile, Bishop Ireton can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Bishop O'Connell 77-35 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Bishop Ireton as they're now sitting on six straight.
Nyla Brooks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 34 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Amirah Anderson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Paul VI's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Bishop Ireton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Paul VI skirted past Bishop Ireton 47-44 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Paul VI repeat their success, or does Bishop Ireton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
