Basketball Recap: Window Rock Takes a Loss

If Window Rock was feeling good fresh off their 74-54 takedown of Ganado last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Window Rock Fighting Scouts took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tuba City Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Scouts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-68 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Window Rock lost on Thursday, don't look at Jayden Lilly. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Lilly a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Brown, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Tuba City had a senior duo take command as Deiondre Whiterock went 8 of 16 on his way to 22 points along with eight boards and seven steals and Tyler Tsinnie had 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Tsinnie is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Ethan Sheppard was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Window Rock has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Tuba City, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Window Rock has already played their next contest, a 54-53 victory against Monument Valley on the 1st. As for Tuba City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-49 defeat against Page on the 3rd.
