 Washington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mt. Vernon Wildcats with a sharp  10-1 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Washington also won the last time the pair played  back in April of 2023.
  John Chapman and  Alton Ostby were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound,  Chapman   tossed  an inning while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (he also didn't allow any  walks). Meanwhile,  Ostby   didn't allow a single  earned run and  only two  hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Chapman has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate,  Chapman  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4, while  Ostby  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Trey James, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Rylan Memering, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.
 On Mt. Vernon's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kyle Holder, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Washington has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games,  which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record  this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they now  have a losing record at 2-3.
 Washington will head out on the road to  take on  Loogootee at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Both teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Loogootee: 3, Washington: 4) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Mt. Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boonville at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
