Nathan Hale took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Eastside Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Nathan Hale Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Eastside Catholic Crusaders on Thursday. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Nathan Hale let Ainslie Smith and Josie Ellis run wild. Smith scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5, while Ellis scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Smith is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Fialdini, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Nathan Hale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory snapped Nathan Hale's losing streak at four games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-3 record. As for Eastside Catholic, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
