Volleyball Recap: Trumbull Eagles vs. Ludlowe Falcons

Trumbull faced Ludlowe in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Falcons. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Trumbull couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. The final score came out to 25-21, 18-25, 26-24, 27-25.

Their offense was headlined by Paulina Bykowski and McKenzyi Bell, who picked up 16 kills apiece. They got some help from Lauren Yakowicz and her 22 assists. Alexa Palo controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Sofia Cilano was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last seven matches. Ella Swineford also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Trumbull and nudges their season record down to 13-5. As for Ludlowe, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

Trumbull wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Westhill on the 22nd. As for Ludlowe, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Bridgeport Central on the 22nd.
