Baseball Recap: Athens Victorious

The Athens Golden Eagles were able to grind out a solid victory over the Mars Hill Bible Panthers on Saturday, taking the game 10-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Jaylen Malone looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashton Dickey, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Micah Huff, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mars Hill Bible, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record.

Looking ahead, Athens will host Hartselle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mars Hill Bible, they will take on Haleyville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
