Volleyball Game Preview: Pike Red Devils vs. Beech Grove Hornets

The Pike Red Devils will challenge the Beech Grove Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pike will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Monday, it was close, but Pike sidestepped Decatur Central for a 3-2 win.

Pike wouldn't go down easily and took Decatur Central into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 25-27, 18-25, 19-17.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Beech Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Martinsville on Monday.

Beech Grove had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.

Pike better focus on containing Dakota Barnette and Nathaniel Davis as the pair were huge in Beech Grove's win. Barnette had seven digs and two aces, while Davis had 12 kills, 11 digs, and one block. That's the most digs Barnette has posted since back in March.

Pike's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Beech Grove, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
