Basketball Recap: Holyoke Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Holyoke Dragons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-39 to the Cheyenne Wells Tigers. The match marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Holyoke lost, don't look at Colby Weber. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 10 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Powell, who posted four points and seven steals.

Corey Hill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cheyenne Wells, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 17 boards. The contest was Hill's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trey Scheler, who put up eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Holyoke's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Cheyenne Wells, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Holyoke wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-56 victory against Haxtun on the 18th. Cheyenne Wells has also already played their next contest, a 50-26 win against Cheraw on the 24th.
