The Horizon Hawks will face off against the Centaurus Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Horizon challenged Frederick on Saturday. The Hawks blew past the Golden Eagles 12-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Garrett Wilson tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Horizon is 3-1 when Wilson allows two or fewer earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Horizon got a massive performance out of Brock Hilyard, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Hilyard is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Chayce Hansen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Horizon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Centaurus posted their closest victory since March 13th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Mead 13-12.
Ben Sehnert was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Brutsch, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
The win got Horizon back to even at 8-8. As for Centaurus, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
Centaurus' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Horizon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Centaurus, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Horizon's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
