Preview: Ingleside Mustangs vs. Orange Grove Bulldogs
Two dominant signal callers in Aidan Jakobsohn and Logan Rodriguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ingleside Mustangs will be playing at home against the Orange Grove Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ingleside will be looking to keep their 16-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Ingleside put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Robstown 58-35. The score was close at the half, but Ingleside pulled away in the second half with 37 points.
Ingleside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakobsohn led the charge by throwing for 340 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Jakobsohn is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathan Ambrose, who rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Orange Grove put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past West Oso 53-20 at home. The win was just what Orange Grove needed coming off of a 62-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, throwing for 132 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Diego Garza was another key contributor, rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Ingleside to 8-0 and Orange Grove to 5-3.
Everything went Ingleside's way against Orange Grove when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as Ingleside made off with a 45-21 win. Does Ingleside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Orange Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
