Softball Game Preview: Diamond Ranch Panthers vs. Chaffey Tigers

For the second straight game, Diamond Ranch will face off against Chaffey. The Panthers will welcome the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Diamond Ranch has three straight victories, Chaffey has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Diamond Ranch's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Chaffey 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Audrinna Mora's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Olivia Jauregui and Rayanna Quintanar did most of the damage at the plate: Jauregui fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Quintanar went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave Quintanar a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Liset Renteria, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Diamond Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Diamond Ranch's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Chaffey, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Diamond Ranch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Chaffey struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
