Volleyball Recap: Western's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Western was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Saddleback last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pioneers fell just short of the Century Centurions by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Centurions earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Western actually scored more points across those five sets (100-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-21, 12-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-7.

Alexandra Caro paced Western's offense, picking up 14 kills. Caro got some help from Alessandra Bernaola and her 30 assists. Finally, Caro was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high 13 blocks.

Western's defeat ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Century, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3.

Western wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Loara on the 2nd. Century has also already played their next matchup (against Saddleback), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
