Softball Recap: Owen Valley Takes a Loss

Owen Valley and Greencastle pushed the score to 22-11 the last time they played Greencastle, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Patriots fell just short of the Tiger Cubs by a score of 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Patriots' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Haley Amador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Owen Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalyn Greene, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Owen Valley's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Greencastle, they moved to 7-13 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Owen Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-2 defeat against Clay City on the 17th. Greencastle has also already played their next match (against Eminence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
