Volleyball Game Preview: Columbus Blue Devils vs. Appling County Pirates + Official Tickets

The Columbus Blue Devils will square off against the Appling County Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Columbus comes in on 14 and Appling County on seven.

Columbus is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Therrell as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Columbus found their leader in sophomore Emma Cicora, who had eight aces and four digs. Cicora has been hot for a while, having also posted 12 or more assists the last 14 times she's played. Sophia Dinh was another key player, getting eight aces and three digs.

Columbus was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 40 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in six consecutive matches.

Appling County not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 15, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past Jordan 3-0.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Appling County took every set by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-5, 25-10.

Appling County's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Columbus, their win bumped their record up to 30-18.

Columbus took their victory against Appling County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
