Basketball Game Preview: Leavitt Hornets vs. Erskine Academy Eagles

The Leavitt Hornets will face off against the Erskine Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Leavitt came up short against Spruce Mountain on Monday, falling 59-34. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Phoenix are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Erskine Academy waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 71-20. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.

Erskine Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Leavitt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
