Baseball Game Preview: White Castle Bulldogs vs. False River Gators

The White Castle Bulldogs will square off against the False River Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

White Castle is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past North Iberville 16-5 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, False River got the win against Slaughter Community Charter on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gators.

Preston Guiliory spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, False River let Wyatt Orilion and Cruz Pourciau run wild. Orilion went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI, while Pourciau scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave Pourciau a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Heine, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: False River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.8.

False River's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-17-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for White Castle, their win bumped their record up to 2-16.
