Softball Recap: Blooming Prairie Comes Up Short

Blooming Prairie extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They lost 17-11 to the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights. Surprisingly, this marked the Awesome Blossoms' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Kenyon-Wanamingo, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. Surprisingly, this marked their fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

For Kenyon-Wanamingo's part, the team relied heavily on Amber Lerfald, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Lerfald a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allina Mendoza, who went 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blooming Prairie will take on Randolph at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Awesome Blossoms surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kenyon-Wanamingo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Goodhue at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
