Basketball Recap: Mendon Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win + How To Watch

Mendon strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 58-41 win over the Athens Indians. The 58-point effort marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Mendon was led to victory by Owen Gorham and Ryder Gorham. Owen went 8-for-16 to rack up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while Ryder posted 12 points along with seven assists and four steals. Owen's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin Wood, who put up five points and three steals.

Mendon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 18 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Mendon's record is now 5-0. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendon will venture away from home to square off against St. Philip Catholic Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Athens, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
