Partnership aims to provide sports information platform for Mountain State high schools, begins this fall.

The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) and MaxPreps, the online high school sports leader, have announced a five-year partnership agreement that will enable the WVSSAC to provide a customized sports information platform for its member schools.

MaxPreps and the WVSSAC will offer a publishing platform across desktop, tablet and mobile that will streamline the process of managing sports information from its member schools. The partnership enables all box score information published on MaxPreps.com to be automatically provided to the WVSAAC for use in managing various initiatives.

Beginning in the 2018-19 school year, the WVSSAC will recommend that coaches submit schedules, rosters and team photos to MaxPreps prior to each sport season and to submit scores and statistics to MaxPreps after each game to accurately track regular-season standings and results used for post-season qualifications, as well as to highlight team and student-athlete achievements.

"MaxPreps continues to pursue its goal to feature sports information from every team, every game and every player in America. The new agreement with the WVSSAC brings us closer to achieving that vision," said Andy Beal, president and founder of MaxPreps. "West Virginia is located in the middle of one of the country's most passionate regions for high school sports, and we are thrilled to highlight the accomplishments of the state's student-athletes locally and nationally."

"The WVSSAC is excited to partner with MaxPreps, the leading source for high school sports in America," WVSSAC Executive Director Bernie Dolan said.

MaxPreps.com is the nation's most visited site for high school sports coverage. MaxPreps has been on the prep sports scene since 2002 and has successfully partnered with 25 other high school state associations. MaxPreps.com also is an official partner of the National Federation of State High School Associations.

About the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission

The WVSSAC believes that a controlled activities program is a strong factor in the development of courage, personality, cooperation, and leadership. The Commission believes that representatives of a school should be good citizens of that school, hence the need for requirements and regulations governing eligibility that have been standardized.
