Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Centennial's offense. They fell 5-0 to the Arcadia Apaches on Friday. The Huskies just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Centennial got a good showing from Manny Arellano, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Arellano has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Centennial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Nonis, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Arcadia, they moved to 13-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Centennial will venture away from home to face off against Corona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Arcadia, they will welcome Burroughs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Apaches 2.6, the Bears 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
