Baseball Game Preview: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Centralia Orphans

The Collinsville Kahoks will face off against the Centralia Orphans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Centralia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Collinsville, who comes in off a win.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Collinsville and O'Fallon meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Kahoks walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Panthers. The win was some much needed relief for the Kahoks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Will Swip spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Collinsville's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Luke Robinson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The Kahoks are undefeated when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 7-16 otherwise. Another was Carson Parrill, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Centralia fell victim to Freeburg and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Midgets, falling 7-0. The Orphans have struggled against the Midgets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Centralia's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Collinsville, their win bumped their record up to 12-16.

Everything went Collinsville's way against Centralia in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Collinsville made off with an 8-1 victory. Do the Kahoks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Orphans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
