Football Recap: Sussex Tech Falls Short Against Ranked Indian River

Sussex Tech faced Indian River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Ravens were beaten by the Indians 43-7. The Ravens were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Indian River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darnell Stokes Jr., who picked up 93 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in a pair of TDs on the ground. That's the most receiving yards Stokes Jr. has posted since back in September of 2024. Dylan Grise was another key passer, throwing for 157 yards and one touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Sussex Tech's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Indian River, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Sussex Tech wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-6 defeat against Laurel on the 30th. As for Indian River, they have also already played their next matchup, a 33-7 win against Delmar on the 30th.
