Softball Recap: Chambers Takes a Loss

Chambers extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They fell 10-6 to the West Charlotte Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 back in March.

As for West Charlotte, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

For West Charlotte's part, Enijah Gary made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave Gary a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor B, who went 2-for-3 with seven stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Victelle M, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chambers will host Mallard Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for West Charlotte, they will square off against North Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.41 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
