Basketball Recap: Paxton Extends Home Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Paxton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-39 win over the Freeport Bulldogs on Thursday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 477th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paxton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cade Stewart, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Stewart has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Borgesen, who put up ten points and five boards.

Paxton was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeport only racked up six.

When it comes to explaining why Freeport lost, don't look at Jayden Boran. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulldogs are 2-1 when Boran posts ten or more boards, but 1-3 otherwise. Hampton MacHado was another key player, putting up seven points.

Paxton's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Freeport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Paxton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-56 defeat against Altha on the 12th. As for Freeport, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 83-67 loss against North Bay Haven Academy on the 12th.
