Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Malachi Lewis and Alexander Hector-Davis Lead Jackson Day to Victory

Jackson Day barely beat Sugar Creek Charter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mariners blew past the Wildcats 73-52 on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-18.

Jackson Day was led to victory by Alexander Hector-Davis and Malachi Lewis. Hector-Davis shot 55% from the field en route to 13 points and six steals, while Lewis went 6-for-15 to rack up 15 points. Abdul Ezeagu also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Jackson Day was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sugar Creek Charter only racked up eight.

Despite the loss, Sugar Creek Charter still got an impressive performance from Derek Thomas, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Mukaba Wossa was another key player, putting up seven points.

Jackson Day's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Sugar Creek Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Meanwhile, Sugar Creek Charter is set to challenge their familiar foe Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Corde Harrison and Kamran Nichols.
