Basketball Recap: Layla Faga Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Indian Springs

Round Mountain won the last time they faced Indian Springs and things went their way on Thursday too. The Round Mountain Knights walked away with a 47-35 victory over the Indian Springs Thunderbirds. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Round Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Layla Faga led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Round Mountain is 6-1 when Faga posts ten or more boards, but 6-7 otherwise. Ava Faga was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Defeat or not, Indian Springs got some senior leadership from Jadyn Guerino and Oriyah Clay. Guerino went 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Clay posted seven points in addition to ten rebounds and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Clay a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Mia Clay, who had ten points and three steals.

Round Mountain's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Indian Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Round Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-26 victory against Beatty on the 14th. As for Indian Springs, they have also already played their next game, a 41-36 win against Tonopah on the 14th.
