The Pioneer Panthers will challenge the DeMotte Christian Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
DeMotte Christian will be up against a hot Pioneer squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Panthers blew past Benton Central 13-3 on Thursday.
Lois Layer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for DeMotte Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Tri-Township on Thursday as they made off with a 15-2 victory. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Pioneer, DeMotte Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Cheznie Kooy. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kooy was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, DeMotte Christian got a massive performance out of Lili Peterson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Allie Myers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Pioneer pushed their record up to 20-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for DeMotte Christian, they moved to 5-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
