Basketball Recap: Leeton Comes Up Short

Leeton had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it 11. They took a blow against the Sherwood Marksmen, falling 57-8. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.

As for Sherwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points over those games.

Sherwood was led to victory by Jordan Harms and Mykiah Felton. Harms almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Felton went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points along with eight assists and eight steals. Felton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 38 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadlee Staley, who posted ten points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leeton will take on Wellington-Napoleon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sherwood, they will face off against Versailles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
