Softball Recap: North Canyon Rattlers vs. Kellis Cougars

North Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-7 to the Kellis Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rattlers of the 19-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Madison Kirby made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ava Hamilton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, North Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

North Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Kellis, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Canyon will challenge Canyon View at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon View will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something North Canyon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kellis, they will square off against Ironwood at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
