Basketball Recap: Kamryn Sainvil's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Spartanburg over Dorman

Spartanburg lost against Dorman back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Spartanburg Vikings came up short against the Dorman Cavaliers, falling 69-48. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 18th).

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamryn Sainvil, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Sainvil has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. De'Asia Bridges was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Spartanburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dorman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Morgan White, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Makayla Moore, who earned eight points along with 11 assists and five steals.

Spartanburg now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Dorman, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Spartanburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-22 win against West Mecklenburg on the 1st. As for Dorman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-49 victory against Gaffney on the 4th.
