Baseball Recap: Avon's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Avon had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Upper Arlington Golden Bears 9-3 on Saturday. The Eagles not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 15-0).

Sam Spike was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Robby Sykora was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Upper Arlington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon will face off against Midview at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Upper Arlington, they will challenge Hilliard Davidson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
