Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Wallace's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Wallace's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They strolled past the Maxwell Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 53-37. For Wallace, this counts as revenge for the 47-35 win Maxwell walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jagger Kleewein, who posted two points in addition to five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Kleewein a new career-high in steals. Owen Pagel was another key player, putting up six points.

Wallace is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Maxwell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wallace Wildcats take on the Dundy County-Stratton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dundy County-Stratton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Wallace likes a good challenge. As for Maxwell, they will be taking part in a tournament against Sutherland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maxwell is facing Sutherland at the right time seeing as Sutherland is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
