Fairfield Prep had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Hillhouse on Monday. The Jesuits' pitchers stepped up to hand the Academics a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Jesuits, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Wong looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ryan Ventrelle was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Fairfield Prep is 6-1 when Ventrelle posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Vinny Lombardo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Fairfield Prep pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Hillhouse, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield Prep will challenge Hand at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hillhouse, they will face off against Crosby at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
