Basketball Game Preview: Robinson Rockets vs. Jarrell Cougars

The Robinson Rockets will square off against the Jarrell Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Robinson has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Jarrell will arrive with six straight wins.

Last Tuesday, Robinson ended up a good deal behind China Spring and lost 52-38.

Meanwhile, Jarrell beat Marble Falls 63-51 on Tuesday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 1063rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jarrell found their leader in sophomore Aniya Taylor, who went 9 of 14 from beyond the arc to rack up 41 points and five boards. The contest was Taylor's 18th in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Lamyre' Fitch, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Robinson's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Jarrell, their victory bumped their record up to 28-6.

Robinson came up short against Jarrell in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 50-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Taylor, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points.
