Soccer Game Preview: La Sierra Academy vs. Bethel Christian

The La Sierra Academy Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Bethel Christian Kings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Sierra Academy has three straight wins, Bethel Christian has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Bethel Christian better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when La Sierra Academy really get things going. La Sierra Academy was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over The Grove School on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Lenny Thomas and Melvyn Owusu-Frimpong scored all three of La Sierra Academy's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 29 goals.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Bethel Christian's offense. They came up short against Cornerstone Christian on Thursday, falling 9-0.

La Sierra Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Bethel Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

La Sierra Academy took their win against Bethel Christian in their previous meeting on January 7th by a conclusive 27-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Sierra Academy since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
