Basketball Game Preview: Northeastern Knights vs. Shelbyville Golden Bears

Northeastern has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Shelbyville has won ten straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Northeastern Knights will be taking part in a tournament against the Shelbyville Golden Bears at 12:00 p.m. One thing working in Northeastern's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Last Saturday, Northeastern really took it to New Castle for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-27 victory. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Northeastern relied on the efforts of Adysson Kircher, who went 8 for 15 on her way to 21 points and three steals, and Ava Mikesell, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 17 points and five steals. Mikesell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cami Angi, who posted five points and five steals.

Northeastern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Shelbyville beat Franklin Community 54-49 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Golden Bears have won by exactly five points.

Shelbyville's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Northeastern, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.
