Baseball Game Preview: Marshfield Pirates vs. Cottage Grove Lions

Marshfield is 8-2 against Cottage Grove since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Marshfield's offense. They lost 17-0 to Junction City on Friday. The Pirates have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Cottage Grove came up short against North Bend on Friday, falling 8-2. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nolan Spear was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Marshfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Cottage Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Marshfield beat Cottage Grove 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
