Football Recap: Marist Falls to St. Rita in First Game of Season

Marist had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 28-21 to the St. Rita Mustangs. The RedHawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

St. Rita's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Steven Armbruster, who threw for 162 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Brandon Johnson Jr. handled things on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Looking ahead, Marist will take on Brother Rice at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Rita, they will face off against Chicago Mt. Carmel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
