Baseball Recap: Airport Comes Up Short

Airport dropped their record down to 18-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Irmo Yellow Jackets by a score of 4-3. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellow Jackets earlier this season, when they won 10-4.

Airport got a good showing from Caleb Eubanks, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Landon Jeffcoat was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Irmo, they now have a winning record of 11-10. The win was a breath of fresh air for they as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

On Irmo's side, Cooper Starling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Irmo's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan White, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Ty Rivers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Airport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Irmo, they will take on Midland Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Mustangs an eight-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
