Football Game Preview: Hoggard Vikings vs. North Brunswick Scorpions

Hoggard is 7-1 against North Brunswick since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vikings will host the Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. Hoggard will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Hoggard gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over Laney. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 100th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Matthew Boring had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 305 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in one TD on the ground. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Hoggard's leading receiver Micah Hunter was Boring's top target yet again, picking up 84 receiving yards, while also punching in one rushing score.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, North Brunswick was a bit more limited in their matchup last Friday. They took a 20-6 bruising from Ashley. The game marked the Scorpions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Hoggard, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Everything came up roses for Hoggard against North Brunswick when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 41-7 victory. In that matchup, the Vikings amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
