Basketball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Ygnacio Valley Wolves

The Encinal Jets will take on the Ygnacio Valley Wolves in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Encinal is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 1st last Friday. They lost 67-47 to St. Joseph Notre Dame. The matchup marked the Jets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ygnacio Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Junipero Serra on Saturday and fell 54-52. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Encinal will need focus on slowing down Antonio Kellogg Jr, one of several Ygnacio Valley players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Oliver, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Ygnacio Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Encinal, they dropped their record down to 3-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Encinal was able to grind out a solid win over Ygnacio Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2016, winning 64-51. Will Encinal repeat their success, or does Ygnacio Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
